A Proverb That Changes My Life
Welcome to our journey around the world seeking wisdom. Today, we will learn wisdom from China.
Jie Chi | China
Hello, my name is Jie Chi, and I’m from China. My favorite proverb from my country is:
A single tree doesn’t make a forest.
What Does it Mean?
It means one’s abilities are limited, and if we want to succeed, we need other’s help.
Why Do I Like It?
I like this proverb because it changes my life.
How Does It Relate to My Life?
When I was a child, my father was very strict to me. Sometimes if I asked a stupid question, he would scold me. So I became afraid to ask questions and even refused to seek help. I made myself an introvert. After I married my husband, he noticed that and told me I shouldn’t close my heart. He let me know that it’s not embarrassing to ask for help. This proverb helps me grow more healthy and makes me more outgoing.
